SIETAR Student Fair 2020

Theme: Intercultural Experiences (studying, working, volunteering, doing service learning etc.)　

テーマ：国際交流（留学、仕事、ボランティア、サービス・ラーニング など）

Students from the Kansai area are invited to participate as presenters or spectators. Presentations are informal and conducted on topics related to intercultural experiences while studying, volunteering, doing service learning, community engagement in either Japan or countries abroad. Presenters can participate as individuals or as a group.  Spectators can move around the fair (ONLINE presentation rooms) to listen to various speakers, and presenters will have a chance to listen to other speakers. Presentations and discussions may be conducted in either English or Japanese. Groups should be prepared to introduce their activity in English in a minute or less.  Teachers and members of the public are encouraged and welcome to attend.

関西在住の、国際交流に関心を持つ学生たちが集まって自分たちの体験を共有できるイベント です。発表者の学生は、個人ないし小さなグループで、自分の経験を発表します。 発表のテーマは、国内外でのボランティア、留 学、地域活動、サービス・ラーニングなどで、発表のスタイルは自由です。参加者は、自分の興味 のあるオンラインルーム を回って発表者に自由に質問したり、ディスカッションをしたりします。 発表する言語は自由ですが、発表者(発表グループ)はイベントの初めに自身の活動に ついて、英語で簡単に紹介して下さい

The aim of this session is to highlight various practical ways in which Alzheimer’s disease prevention can be approached through intercultural communication from within mainstream foreign language education. In this session, Alzheimer’s disease prevention will be explored through Houghton’s FURYU (風流) Educational Program (FEP), which is currently under development in the Faculty of Art and Regional Design at Saga University. Houghton’s research has traversed through intercultural dialogue and (post) native speakerism through to art (performing arts/dance) and regional design (fitness). These will be reviewed from various standpoints related to lifestyle management including heritage management, intercultural dialogue, health and fitness, technology, art generation and social business.

このセミナーは，主要な外国語教育の中における異文化コミュニケーションを通して取り組まれるアルツハイマー型認知症予防について，いくつかの実用的な手法を明らかにすることを目的としている。セミナーでは，現在，佐賀大学芸術地域デザイン学部内において研究されているホートン博士の「FURYU(風流)学習プログラム(FEP)」を通して，アルツハイマー型認知症の予防について探る。彼女の研究では，異文化対話や（ポスト）ネイティブ・スピーカーリズムから，アート（舞台芸術・ダンス）や地域デザイン（健康）まで，詳しく考察されている。このプログラムは，遺産管理，異文化対話，健康とフィットネス，科学技術，アートジェネレーションやソーシャルビジネスを含む生活習慣管理に関連する様々な観点から検証する。

Stephanie Ann Houghton PhD is an Associate Professor of Intercultural Communication at the Faculty of Art and Regional Design, Saga University. She has published multiple academic books and articles in peer-reviewed international journals. She is co-editor of the book series Intercultural Communication and Language Education with Melina Porto. Addressing the development of intercultural communicative competence, her main research areas include intercultural dialogue, native speakerism and citizenship education, with a special focus on the prevention of Alzheimer’s disease.

ステファニー・アン・ホートン（PhD) 氏は，佐賀大学芸術地域デザイン学部地域デザインコース准教授。インターカルチュラル・コミュニケーションを専門分野とし，多数の学術書の出版や論文のある国際雑誌に論説が掲載されている。メリナ・ポート氏と共に「Intercultural Communication and Language Education」のシリーズ本を編集している。彼女の主要な研究領域は，異文化対話，ネイティブ・スピーカーリズム，公民教育など，特にアルツハイマー型認知症予防を焦点化させた異文化コミュニケーション能力の育成に 取り組んでいる。
